The Hill of Moreh lies at the eastern end of the Jezreel plain.

• On its southwestern slope once stood the town of Shunem, where the Philistines assembled to fight Saul: "So the Philistines gathered together and came and camped in Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel together and they camped in Gilboa (I Samuel 28:4).
  
  
• Gideon (and his three hundred men who lapped the water) defeats the Midianites: "Then Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the people who were with him, rose early and camped beside the spring of Harod; and the camp of Midian was on the north side of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley" (Judges 7:1).
  
  
• In Psalms 89:13 (You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name) Mt. Hermon is juxtaposed with Mt. Tabor, which led to the Hill of Moreh being called the "Little Hermon."
  The conical hill immediately south of Tabor was thus named Little Hermon, and is still so called by some of the inhabitants of the district.
